1. Primeramente debemos detener los siguientes servicios:
· VMware Update Manager Service
· VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices
· VMware VirtualCenter Server Service
2. Antes de continuar, si nuestra base de datos es el SQL 2005 Express que se instala junto con el vcenter para despliegues pequeños, debemos modificar un valor del registro, para asegurar que el respaldo se haga correctamente, en el Server de origen debemos revisar que la siguiente Llave de registro esté marcada como Bundled, no como Custom, de estar custom, cambiamos el valor a Bundled.
· En Windows 2003 – HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware VirtualCenter\DbServerType
· En Windows 2008 – HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware VirtualCenter\DbServerType
3. Ahora, copiamos la carpeta Datamigration que está en el DVD de vSphere 4.1, a la raíz del vCenter 32bits. Y descomprimimos el contenido del archivo datamigration.zip
4. Ir a la carpeta vía línea de comandos y ejecutamos el archivo backup.bat, con esto se crea una copia de seguridad para restaurar en el nuevo servidor.
Después de un par de preguntas, termina el respaldo.
5. Ahora copiamos la carpeta Datamigration completa a la raíz del nuevo servidor. El servidor debe estar limpio, recién instalado.
6. Montamos el CD de vCenter 4.1 en el servidor nuevo, no ejecutamos nada de ahí, vamos vía cmd a la carpeta datamigration y ejecutamos el archivo install.bat e indicamos la unidad de DVD en la que tenemos la imagen de vCenter.
7. Durante el proceso de migración aparecerá el instalador de vCenter 4.1, y lo continuamos normalmente. Al terminar la instalación de vCenter, el proceso de install.bat continúa.
8. Se arrancará también el programa de instalación de Update Manager, lo continuamos normalmente.
9. Al terminar la instalación, el install.bat continúa su proceso, se levantan los servicios.
10. Al terminar el Install.bat sin errores, nuestro vCenter está migrado.
11. Entramos vía vSphere Client y re-conectamos los Hosts, que aparecen como desconectados.
Listo!!! Así de fácil y así de sencillo! y si… no le di ni poquito formato al texto, lo copy-pastié directito jejeje en fin, espero que les sea útil!!!
